This type of catch has always been a bit of a mystery to me, because it is so easy to use, yet it is not widely available.
The actual catch works very easily, one has only to look at your average dog leash, which works on the same principle as this one, to get an idea of it's ease of use and popularity.
In this tutorial, I first make the basic catch and then expand on the design and finish of a second more ornate version, pictured below.
